Last night, she suddenly struggled out of her bed and asked to play the keyboard. She sat down at the keyboard; eyes closed, drew a deep breath and spontaneously composed an original sonata, quickly to be accompanied by another caring soul on guitar. And it was in those musical moments I knew, that for her, her doctors were wrong.
Music has the power to calm the soul, the magic to heal the mind and body, and the spiritual mystic to awaken memories we once thought were lost. But most of all, music can reconnect our spirit to others, making us whole with the universe again.
As I listened to the song of life breathed from her heart, to her fingers, to my ears, it touched with me and made my heart sing as well. And when she finished her composition, exhaled and laid her head on the keyboard, we both smiled knowing that despite the injuries, her mind, body and spirit would ultimately recover, and everything would be all right…
